A Reader Review of DYING IS MY BUSINESS

Reader (and poet!) Andrea Blythe has posted a rave review of Dying Is My Business on her website. It’s quite a flattering review, but one section in particular stood out for me. You see, a lot of the reviews focus on Trent, which makes sense, since he’s the protagonist and all. Very few of them, if any at all, talk about Bethany, who is another extremely important character. But Andrea puts them all to shame. She writes:

Now, can I just take a moment express my love for Bethany? This diminutive, spright-like young woman with a passion for the rules, a troubled past, and vest full of charms that will lay you on your ass has won my heart. She is hard edged, intelligent, honest, and kind. She is, in a phrase, many kinds of awesome.

That really made my day. Thank you, Andrea!

Podcast and Mind Meld

Attention, people who enjoy listening to other people talk! Have you been dying to hear my interview with the fine folks at Sword & Laser but didn’t want to be annoyed by those pesky visuals of us actually talking? (I don’t know why that would be. I mean, I may not be all that, but Veronica and Tom are lookers!) Well, anyway, good news, humans! The interview is now available as a podcast for your earholes! Listen to it on the treadmill, during your commute, or while just staring blankly at the living room wall!

In other news, I’m part of a Mind Meld over at SF Signal today. This one is called “What Book Would You Like to Experience Again for the First Time?” Want to know which book I chose? Click on through and be amazed!

Stories Appearing in Two Anthologies

Two anthologies are hitting the shelves this month, and I’ve got stories in both of them!

Zvr

First, Zombies vs. Robots: This Means War!, which includes my story “The Sorcerer’s Apprenticebot,” is out now in a new “rack-sized” paperback format. The more convenient size and lower price tag of $9.99 should make this a more attractive choice than the original oversized, $17.99 paperback. You still get Fabio Listrani’s amazing illustrations for each story, too, except now they’re in black-and-white instead of full color. Not a bad trade-off, though.

AllAmericanHorror

Next, a brand new anthology called All-American Horror of the 21st Century: The First Decade 2000-2010, edited by Mort Castle, who also edited the award-winning Shadow Show: All New Stories in Celebration of Ray Bradbury. This one includes a reprint of my story “Under the Skin,” which was first published in City Slab #7 in 2005. This looks to be a very good anthology. That cover art, on the other hand…

Get ’em while they’re hot!
