Huge News!

You guys, Dying Is My Business was chosen for the Los Angeles Times Holiday Book Gift Guide, along with freaking Margaret Atwood and Neil Gaiman! Here’s a link:

Holiday book gift guide: Science fiction and fantasy.

Holy crap, this is so huge! I’m so excited I don’t even know what to do with myself! Luckily I have these edits from John Joseph Adams to distract me…

Vampire Book Club’s Best Books of 2013

Holy crap! Dying Is My Business was voted one of Vampire Book Club’s Best Books of 2013! Here’s what they have to say about it:

Ever wish there was a fantasy version of The Bourne Identity? Us, too. Dying is My Business is a really great example of an urban setting mixing brilliantly with a high fantasy element. The contrast between the gritty criminal underworld Trent is working in against the almost fairy-tale mythical world he stumbles upon makes for a vivid read. The action sequences had a sense of realism yet were at the same time magical.

It’s a Thanksgiving miracle!

If you haven’t picked up a copy of Dying Is My Business yet, what are you waiting for?

Even More Copies of DYING IS MY BUSINESS Spotted in the Wild

Park Slope

Here’s a shot of Dying Is My Business on the shelf at the Park Slope Barnes & Noble in Brooklyn! Their stock is now signed by yours truly. I’d like to extend my special thanks to the staff there. They were kind, helpful, and excited to meet an author. One of them, a young woman, said, “I want to be a writer! I want to do everything! I want to save the world!” I told her it sounded like a good plan.

So if you happen to be looking for a copy of Dying Is My Business in Park Slope, stop by the B&N and pick one up. (These copies don’t have the misprint. I checked.) Look for it in the Fiction & Literature section, not the Science Fiction & Fantasy section. (No, I don’t know why.) And while you’re there, be sure to say hi to the staff. They’re the best.

A Reader Review of DYING IS MY BUSINESS

Reader (and poet!) Andrea Blythe has posted a rave review of Dying Is My Business on her website. It’s quite a flattering review, but one section in particular stood out for me. You see, a lot of the reviews focus on Trent, which makes sense, since he’s the protagonist and all. Very few of them, if any at all, talk about Bethany, who is another extremely important character. But Andrea puts them all to shame. She writes:

Now, can I just take a moment express my love for Bethany? This diminutive, spright-like young woman with a passion for the rules, a troubled past, and vest full of charms that will lay you on your ass has won my heart. She is hard edged, intelligent, honest, and kind. She is, in a phrase, many kinds of awesome.

That really made my day. Thank you, Andrea!
