Quiet Bullets

Quiet BulletsQuiet Bullets by Christopher Golden

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I found this little gem of a chapbook in my goody bag at Necon 34 and read it from front to back in about 30 minutes. Golden has crafted a tight, affecting ghost story about one boy’s early loss of his father in the Korean War and his refusal to lose his sick mother to death, too. With a strong sense of nostalgia and a touch of existential terror, QUIET BULLETS put me pleasantly in mind of Ray Bradbury’s early horror stories.
